abstract The present invention has described a correlation interference spectroscopy apparatus for detecting spectral characteristics of a sample, the apparatus being configured to detect an electromagnetic radiation source that excites the sample with photons, and a time of arrival of the photons at the detector, and also the arrival times of other photons. It consists of a detector configured to detect a delay between. The apparatus may also be configured with an autocorrelator configured to analyze between the arrival of photons to the detector. The apparatus can also be used with other spectral detection and characteristic systems such as, for example, Raman spectroscopy and attenuated total reflection spectroscopy. Also provided herein are methods, systems and kits incorporating correlation interference spectroscopy devices.
