abstract The present invention relates to a method for producing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) from glucose using recombinant E. coli strains, and more specifically, recombinant E. coli strains that have been identified to have GABA conversion production ability from glucose, Or in the method of producing GABA from glucose by recombinant strain prepared by transforming the strain to succinicsemialdehyde dehydrogenase (SucD) and GABA 4-aminobutyrate aminotransferase (GabT). The recombinant E. coli strain has a production capacity to convert from glucose to GABA, and thus the method may be usefully used in GABA production technology.
