abstract |
Certain aspects of the present invention relate to small molecule autophagy inhibitors and their use for treating and preventing cancer and acute pancreatitis. As disclosed herein, small molecule inhibitors of autophagy have been identified from image-based screens in known bioactive libraries. Such autophagy inhibitors have been found to act by promoting degradation of the type III PI3 kinase complexes required to initiate autophagy. Small molecule autophagy inhibitors with improved efficacy and selectivity have been obtained from medical chemistry studies. |
