Solid-state Sodium-based Secondary Battery with Sodium Ion Conductive Ceramic Separator |
abstract |
The present invention provides a solid-state sodium based secondary cell (or rechargeable battery) 10. The secondary battery 10 includes a solid sodium metal negative electrode 20 disposed in a nonaqueous negative electrolyte solution 25 containing an ionic liquid. In addition, the cell 10 includes a positive electrode 35 disposed in both electrolyte solutions 40. The sodium ion conductive electrolyte membrane 45 separates the negative electrolyte solution 25 from the positive electrolyte solution 40. The cell can operate at room temperature. In addition, when the negative electrolyte solution 25 contains an ionic liquid, when the cell 10 is recharged and sodium ions are reduced on the negative electrode 20, the ionic liquid is on the surface of the negative electrode 20. May interfere with dendrite formation. |
