abstract The present invention relates to a method for detecting nucleic acid in a biological or environmental sample. The method of the present invention is to amplify the nucleic acid of interest after conversion to cDNA, if necessary, the amplified nucleic acid is used as a template for further amplification by real-time PCR (RT PCR) technology. The combination of amplification procedures improves the sensitivity and specificity of amplification compared to conventional amplification techniques. The invention also relates to primers and diagnostic test kits for use in this method.
