Hydroxyalkyl carboxyalkyl starch and methods for preparing the same are provided. The production method comprises the steps of adding a starch suspension to an alkaline solution containing an alkali catalyst and gelatinized to form a starch gelatinized liquid, adding a carboxyalkylating agent and a hydroxyalkylating agent to the starch gelatinized liquid to proceed with the etherification reaction, And adding a crosslinking agent to the mixture which has undergone the etherification reaction, thereby performing a crosslinking reaction. The hydroxyalkyl carboxyalkyl starch is a starch prepared according to the production method, it can be used in thickeners for cement, gypsum mortar and plaster. |
