abstract An apparatus and method for spatially recycling resources by using a directional antenna in a competitive base of a wireless network. In an embodiment, an apparatus for contention-based multiple access using a directional antenna is optimized for a delay function and a yield. By calculating the value, it is possible to efficiently use the resource competition interval in the medium access control (MAC).
