titleOfInvention Reduction device and method for solid feedstock
abstract In a method for the reduction of a solid feedstock, such as a solid metal compound, a feedstock portion in an electrolytic device is disposed in each of two or more electrolyzers 50, 60, 70, 80. Molten salt is provided as electrolyte in each electrolytic cell. Molten salt is circulated from the molten salt reservoir 10 so that salt flows through each electrolyzer. The feedstock is reduced in each electrolyzer by applying a potential across the electrodes of each electrolyzer, where the potential is sufficient to cause reduction of the feedstock. The invention also provides an apparatus for implementing the method.
