abstract The method of orienting the alignment film is as follows. The substrate provided with the alignment film including the plurality of alignment regions is aligned on the stage. The data relating to the position of the alignment regions to which light is to be loaded is loaded to generate a control signal corresponding to the data. Thereafter, light is provided to the alignment regions according to the control signal to align the alignment regions in at least two different directions. The device for orienting the alignment film includes a light source for generating light, a stage, a data processing portion, and an optical portion. The stage accommodates a substrate provided with an alignment film including a plurality of alignment regions. The data processor loads data relating to positions of the alignment regions to which light is to be supplied, and generates a control signal in response to the data. The optical part receives the control signal and the light and selectively provides the light to the alignment regions of the alignment layer.
