Shrink Label Attachment System and Attachment Process |
abstract |
A deformable label processor and associated method are disclosed. The deformable label processor heats and stimulates labels, such as reduced pressure heat shrink labels, to attach labels to containers or other surfaces. The deformable label processor and related methods are well suited for attaching labels to composite curved surfaces. It also describes bulk labeling using an assembly of a multi-label processor. Additional assemblies and methods describe the selective contact and adhesion area of a label to a moving container during a labeling operation. The optional area of the label can be wiped to modify or alter the portion of the label that is in contact with the container and the portion of the label that is not in contact with the container. The label processing process performed after labeling is also disclosed. The labeling process reduces the occurrence of label defects and improves label retention, adhesion and aesthetics. The label processing process includes heating the attached label and adhesive to a specific temperature. In particular, heating is performed immediately after labeling. |
