A novel self-contained device for separating nucleic acid, cell eluate and cell suspension from an untreated sample, which is used with the equipment and comprises: (i) a chamber for receiving the untreated sample from the collection instrument; A macrofluidic component comprising at least one filled liquid purification reagent reservoir; (Ii) a microfluidic component in communication with said macrofluidic component through at least one microfluidic element, further comprising at least one nucleic acid purification matrix; And (iii) a drive mechanism on the equipment for driving the liquid purification reagent through the microfluidic device and the nucleic acid purification matrix, wherein input to the device is through the chamber and the drive mechanism only. |
