abstract | The set of nonvolatile storage elements undergo a programming process to store data. During the programming process, one or more verify operations (Vva, Vvb, Vvc) are performed to determine whether non-volatile storage elements have reached their target state to store appropriate data. All of the non-volatile storage elements reach their target level, or the number of non-volatile storage elements that do not reach their target level can be corrected using an error correction process during a read operation (or other operation). When less than a number, programming can be stopped. The number of nonvolatile storage elements that have not reached their target level can be estimated by counting the number of nonvolatile storage elements that have not reached a state VvcL different from the target level (eg, lower). |
