The present invention includes two or more particle groups having different chemical compositions, each particle group comprising (a) a substance of Formula A 1 a M 1 b (XY 4 ) c Z d ; And (b) a material selected from materials of formula A 2 e M 2 f O g , wherein (i) A 1 , A 2 and A 3 are Li, Na or K; (ii) M 1 and M 3 comprise a transition metal; (iv) XY 4 is a phosphate or similar residue; (v) Z relates to an electrode active material which is OH or halogen. In a preferred embodiment, A 2 e M 3 O g is A 3 h Mn i O 4 with inner and outer regions, the inner region comprising cubic spinel manganese oxide, the outer region Mn + relative to the inner region 4 includes a wealth of manganese oxide. In a preferred embodiment, the composition also comprises a basic compound. |
