abstract |
In one aspect, the present specification provides a CO comprising 1) a metal coordination compound having a set of permanent ligands and a catalyst comprising at least one ligand that is a polymerization initiator and 2) a chain transfer agent having at least two sites capable of initiating polymerization. 2 and polymerization systems for copolymerizing epoxides. In a second aspect, the present specification includes a method for synthesizing polycarbonate polyols using the polymerization system of the present invention. In a third aspect, the present specification includes a polycarbonate polyol composition wherein the polymer chain has a high% -OH end group and a high% carbonate bond. The composition is further characterized as containing a polymer chain having embedded multifunctional moieties bound to a plurality of individual polycarbonate chains. |
