titleOfInvention | Methods and compositions for increasing trikogen efficacy of dermal cells |
abstract | The present invention relates to methods and compositions for increasing trichogenity of cells in culture. One example is in vitro in the presence of an effective amount of one or more sonic hedgehog (Shh) pathway agonists to increase trichogenity of isolated mammalian dermal cells relative to untreated isolated mammalian dermal cells. It provides a method comprising culturing the isolated mammalian dermal cells. The cell culture optionally contains epidermal cells. Preferred Shh agonists include, but are not limited to, CUR-0236715 and CUR-0201365 which are commercially available from Curless Corporation. Trichogenity is measured using the Aderans Hair Patch Assay ™ . The cultured dermal cells may be maintained in the medium in the presence of one or more Shh agonists for at least 1 to 7 days or more prior to harvesting. Treated cultured dermal cells can be used to treat hair loss in mammalian subjects, preferably humans, by implanting them in an amount effective to induce hair follicle formation. |
