titleOfInvention Apparatus and method for reducing solid feedstock
abstract The present invention is directed to a method for reducing a solid feedstock, such as a solid metal compound, wherein the feedstock is disposed on the top surface of members 60, 80, 81 in a bipolar electrolyzer stack in housing 25. Molten salt electrolyte is circulated through the housing to contact the member and the feed material. Sufficient potential is applied to the terminals of the bipolar electrolyzer stack such that the top surfaces of the members are the cathode and the bottom surfaces of the members are the anode. The invention also provides an apparatus for performing the method.
