abstract The present invention discloses methods of inactivating viruses, articles for inactivating viruses and methods of making such articles. The singlet oxygen producing dye is attached to the substrate. Upon light exposure, singlet oxygen is generated to inactivate the virus present. In a preferred embodiment, one or more dyes are used. When only one dye is used, acridine yellow G is particularly effective.
