abstract |
Stabilized blends of polyesters and polyamides are disclosed. This polymer blend is a combination of a) a) an acetaldehyde scavenger and a stabilizer selected from b) phenolic antioxidants, organophosphorus stabilizers and lactone stabilizers or B) c) lactone stabilizers and d) phenolic oxidation Stabilized by a combination of stabilizers selected from inhibitors and organic phosphorus stabilizers. The blends of the present invention exhibit reduced color formation, high levels of whiteness / brightness and acceptable low haze formation upon heat treatment. The blends of the present invention are useful in the manufacture of bottles, containers and films for beverages, foods and cosmetics. Polyester is especially polyethylene terephthalate, PET and polyamide is especially polyamide-MXD6. Heat treatment is for example melt extrusion or solid state polymerization (SSP). |
