Disclosed is a compound having the following general formula comprising a lipamycin derivative having antibacterial activity. In the above formula: R is hydrogen or acetyl, R 1 and R 2 is hydrogen, (C 1 -4) alkyl, benzyloxy, mono- and di - (C 1 -3) alkylamino - (C 1 -4) alkyl, (C 1 -3) alkoxy, ( C 1 -4) alkyl, hydroxy-methyl, hydroxy- (C 2 -4) - alkyl, and independently selected from the group consisting of nitro, or R 1 and R 2 are two consecutive carbon atoms of the pyridine nucleus and optionally one or two methyl or ethyl groups to form a benzene ring which is optionally substituted, R 3 together is a hydroxyalkyl (C 1 -4). Also disclosed is a method of obtaining this compound. These compounds have antibacterial activity. |
