The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof which are inhibitors of extrarenal medulla potassium (ROMK) channel (Kir1.1). The compounds of formula (I) are useful as diuretics and sodium urinary excretion accelerators and therefore for the treatment and prevention of diseases resulting from excessive salt and water retention, including hypertension and cardiovascular diseases such as chronic and acute heart disease. <Formula I> |
