In a process for producing an electrode material comprising a lithium phosphate compound represented by the formula LiMPO 4 having an olivine structure or a lithium silicate compound represented by the formula Li 2 MSiO 4 having an olivine structure, The metal element having the different valence functions as a carrier generating source in the electrode material and improves the electron conductivity of the electrode material to be produced. Also provided is a power storage device having improved discharge capacity by using a material for an electrode having improved electronic conductivity as a positive electrode active material.
