abstract |
PURPOSE: A composition for treating or preventing pigmentary disorders is provided to treat/prevent vitiligo or melasma. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating vitiligo contains Wif-1(Wnt inhibitory factor 1) protein as an active ingredient. A method for promoting melanogenesis comprises a step of administering or contacting effective amount of Wif-1 protein. A method for treating vitiligo comprises a step of administering or contacting effective amount of Wif-1 protein onto a vitiligo lesion. A composition for preventing or treating melasma contains a material as an active ingredient, which suppresses Wif-1 protein expression or activation. The material is an antibody to Wif-1 protein, siRNA or shRNA. |
