abstract |
The present invention relates to a mutant Anabaena Sensor Rhodopsin (ASR) protein with improved ability to pump hydrogen ions into cells, specifically 217 of a wild type Anavena sensor Rhodopsin having an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1. The mutant anavena sensor rhodopsin and the hydrogen ion pumping system using the same are characterized in that the first amino acid Asp is substituted with Glu. Since the mutant anavena sensor rhodopsin protein of the present invention has the ability to pump hydrogen ions into cells by light irradiation, it can be very useful for controlling membrane potential together with other pumping rhodopsin pumping hydrogen ions outside the cell. |
