abstract |
The present invention comprises (i) about 1 to about 40 weight percent silica cladding, based on the weight of (a) a core comprising alumina particles and (b) a cladding catalyst support on the surface of the core; Clad catalyst support having a BET surface area of greater than 20 m 2 / g and a porosity of at least about 0.2 cc / g; And (ii) from 0.1 to 10% by weight of catalytically active transition metal, based on the weight of the catalyst, on the surface of the clad catalyst support; Wherein the catalyst support has a standardized sulfur uptake (NSU) of 25 μg / m 2 or less. The invention also relates to the preparation and use of such catalysts. |
