abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for converting a hydrocarbon comprising contacting the hydrocarbon with an acidic catalyst comprising more than 15% by weight of the binding polymer. The acidic catalyst has a molar ratio of aluminum of more than 2.0 to a heteroatom selected from the group consisting of N, P, O, S and combinations thereof. In addition, the hydrocarbon is converted in the contacting step. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing a catalyst comprising more than 15% by weight of a binding polymer having a high molar ratio of aluminum to heteroatoms, wherein the acidic ionic liquid catalyst is effective for promoting the reaction. The present invention also provides a catalyst composition comprising more than 15% by weight of the binding polymer. |
