Formula: (M) x (Eu) y (Si, Al) 12 (O, N) 16 (wherein M is selected from Li, Mg, Ca, Y, and lanthanide elements other than La and Ce) Α-sialon represented by at least one element containing Ca), an oxygen content of 1.2% by mass or less, and the primary particles constituting the α-sialon are columnar. When it is a fluorescent substance and the ultraviolet-ray or visible light which has a wavelength of 250-500 nm is an excitation source, the fluorescent characteristic which has a peak in the wavelength range of 595-630 nm is shown. |
