The present invention is directed to an antibody having binding specificity for an IL-6 antagonist, eg, IL-6, or a combination thereof, for preventing or treating thrombosis in diseases associated with abnormal blood coagulation or fibrinolysis. It relates to a method of treatment with fragments. In a preferred embodiment, these patients include patients exhibiting elevated D-dimers, or other coagulation cascade related proteins prior to treatment, and, optionally, will further exhibit elevated C reactive proteins. The therapy of the present invention may also include administration of other active agents, such as chemotherapeutic agents, anti-coagulants, statins, and the like. |
