abstract The present invention relates to 2-chloro-N 6- (3-iodobenzyl) -4′-thioadenosine-5′-N-methyluronamamide (thio-Cl-IB-MECA) or a pharmaceutically acceptable thereof. It relates to a pharmaceutical composition for the prophylaxis or treatment of inflammatory diseases comprising a salt of as an active ingredient. The pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention is significantly lower in toxicity compared to the conventional A 3 adenosine receptor agonist, which is useful for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases.
