abstract The present invention relates to a therapeutic use of Mn-induced manganism of an aminosalicylate analog, more particularly Mn-derived containing an aminosalicylate analog or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The present invention relates to a composition for treating and preventing manganism. According to the present invention, the aminosalicylate analogue 3, 4 or 5-amino salicylic acid (ASA) increases neuronal survival, reduces ROS, restores disrupted mitochondrial membrane potential, and modulates mitochondrial complex I activity As a result, manganism, such as manganese-induced Parkinson deases-like symtpms, can be effectively treated or prevented.
