abstract |
Provided herein are methods of identifying genetic variations associated with the development of a state of interest (eg, Alzheimer's disease), and genetic variations so identified. Upon detection of the genetic variation described herein, methods of treatment with an active agent (eg, with a specific active agent and / or at an earlier age) are also provided. In some embodiments, the genetic variation is a deletion / insertion polymorphism (DIP) of the TOMM40 gene. Kits are also provided for determining whether a subject is at increased risk of developing late onset Alzheimer's disease. Further provided are kits for determining whether a subject is responsive to treatment for a condition of interest by the active agent. |
