abstract | Novel coordination catalyst ligands of general formula (I) are disclosed. (I) R represents a hydrocarbyl aromatic structure having at least one aromatic ring, wherein Q 1 And Q 2 is each linked via a respective linking group (if present) on the available adjacent atoms of said at least one aromatic ring. Flag X 3 And X 4 denotes a radical which is bonded to each atom Q 1 via the tertiary carbon atom group X 1 And X 2 represents a radical which is bonded to atom Q 2 , respectively, via a primary, or substituted aromatic ring carbon atom (s). A and B represent optional lower alkylene linking groups. Q 1 And Q 2 represent phosphorus, arsenic or antimony, respectively. Also disclosed is a method of carbonylating an ethylenically unsaturated compound, which comprises a source of a hydroxyl group, optionally a source of anions and a metal of groups 8, 9 or 10, or a compound thereof and the coordination of general formula (I) Reacting with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst system obtainable by binding a ligand. |
