abstract A method and sensor are provided for measuring the concentration of analyte in the vicinity of an indicator molecule that can be excited by radiation. A stimulus waveform is used to drive the radiation source. This indicator molecule is exposed to the radiation source. A response waveform is generated that represents the photoluminescent radiation emitted by the indicator molecules. The phase difference between the stimulus waveform and the response waveform is a function of the analyte concentration that allows the concentration of the analyte to be measured.
