Dichroic Guest Host Polarizers with an Oriented Polymer Film |
abstract |
The dichroic guest host polarizer comprises an oriented polymeric liquid crystal host and a dichroic guest aligned therewith. The dichroic ratio of the polarizer is about 15 or more. The polarizer has a small thickness and, optionally, may be manufactured using the wet deposition method, and may be provided inside the liquid crystal cell, according to a desired pattern. A polymerizable liquid crystal having a highly ordered quasicrystalline phase that can be suitably used to obtain a largely oriented polymeric film such as a polarizer film is disclosed. |
