The present invention is based on a repeating tandem array of the N-terminal seven amino acids of Aβ 42 and preferably provides a recombinant polypeptide disposed within the active loop site of a carrier such as bacterial thioredoxin (Trx). Antibodies to these recombinant constructs have been shown to have a very strong affinity for Aβ42, opening up the possibility for the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. |
