abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for producing expanded polystyrene comprising the step of initiating polymerization by first heating the polymerization reactor and maintaining the polymerization reactor in adiabatic conditions to reach a second elevated temperature. By increasing the temperature of the reactor by using the temperature of the reactor itself, most of the steam input to the secondary temperature can be saved, and similar to the reaction when the reaction temperature is controlled by using the steam / cooling water as the conventional method while using its own polymerization heat. The effect of polymerization rate and conversion can be obtained. |
