abstract |
The present invention provides a method for synthesizing thymosaponin BII and related compounds from sarsasapogenin. Diketone intermediates are provided that can be advantageously used in the complex sugar partial in situ assembly of the required sugar end product. The diketone compound is then selectively reduced with the use of borohydride reducing agents to form the desired final product. Some of the end products and intermediates are themselves novel compounds. |
