The present invention relates to improved methods and processes for producing recombinant protein. The methods of the present invention are useful for the production of growth factors, particularly growth factors with TGF-β superfamily, including bone morphogenic proteins such as BMP-2. Suitable host cells are cultured in a medium in which iron is present at a concentration of at least 2.25 μM and pyridoxal is present, wherein pyridoxal constitutes less than 55% of the molar concentration of vitamin B6 in the medium. |
