Manufacturing method of microporous sheet |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for producing a microporous sheet material of a polymer matrix of polyolefin and interconnected pore networks in communication throughout the microporous material and substantially water-insoluble finely divided fillers distributed throughout the matrix. The method comprises (a) forming a mixture comprising a polyolefin, a filler and a process plasticizer composition, (b) extruding the mixture to form a continuous sheet, and (c) making the continuous sheet non-flammable Extracting the process plasticizer composition from the continuous sheet in contact with an extraction fluid composition. The extraction fluid has a boiling point below 75 ° C. and is essentially free of trichloroethylene. The microporous sheet material has performance properties such as, for example, tensile strength of at least 800 kPa. Microporous sheet materials are also provided. |
