titleOfInvention Absorbents that form crosslinks upon absorption
abstract SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide an absorbent and an absorbent article including the same, which have excellent absorbent performance and leakage preventing properties, and also seek to be lightweight and thin as an absorbent article and an absorbent article containing the same. The present invention is an absorbent having a source of polysaccharides and polyvalent metal ions causing a gelation reaction by polyvalent metal ions, and an absorbent article having the same, wherein the polyvalent metal ions are supplied simultaneously with or after the polysaccharide is dissolved and swelled. By using the absorbent material and the absorbent article containing the same, it is possible to combine the excellent absorbent performance and leakage preventing property, and to reduce the weight and thickness of the absorbent article.
