abstract The present invention provides cocaine and amphetamine-regulated transcripts (CART) for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions for increasing bone mineral density by continuously providing increased serum levels of CART-derived peptides in a subject to be treated. It relates to the use of the derived peptide. Suitably, the increased serum levels of the CART derived peptides are continuously provided through sustained release of the CART derived peptides from the sustained release formulations over a long period of time.
