abstract |
The present invention provides an improved method of controlling air pollution. Combustion gas is passed through a solution of alkaline earth metal sulfides and redox buffers such as mono alkaline earth metal phosphate salts in combination with, but not necessarily, alkaline earth metal carbonate FGD systems. The reagents are provided in a fully soluble form that allows for cost savings and allows for retrofitting of existing equipment, and also advantageously provides stability of the process product, including alkaline earth metal base salts. Reagents co-precipitate when the solution reaches a pH of 4.5 to 6.5 encountered in an acidic environment in a conduit carrying the combustion flue gas. |
