titleOfInvention | Treatment of Bladder Dysfunction with Liposomal Botolulinum Toxin |
abstract | Liposomes are used for delivery of BoNTs that are useful for improving lower urinary tract symptoms by reducing intra- bladder drug delivery, particularly bladder irritation and frequency. The system uses low and safe doses of BoNT, which have a lower risk of urinary retention than injection. Simply injecting liposome-BoNT, a liquid formulation, into the bladder in a volume of 30-60 ml can provide an effect similar to that of BoNT injection by needle injection. The dose of BoNT can be lower than the dose by injection, thus lowering the risk of urinary stagnation. Liposomes-BoNTs can protect BoNTs from bladder and urine breakdown. Infusion of liposomes-BoNTs is more comfortable for patients and allows more physicians to provide treatment forms compared to those defined by trained and recognized physicians with cystoscopic BoNT injections. |
