abstract The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of (3S, 4S) -3-hexyl-4-((R) -2-hydroxytridecyl) -oxetan-2-one and the product of the process. The method comprises the following steps: a) reducing the material of formula (II) to obtain the material of formula (III) and then oxidizing the material of formula (III) to form the material of formula (IV). step; b) acylating n-octanoic acid using thionyl dichloride to obtain n-octanoyl chloride, and then, under basic conditions to form the substance of formula (V), Condensing with mercapto-pyridine and then converting the material of formula (V) to the material of formula (VI); c) reacting the material obtained in step a) with the material obtained in step b) under catalytic conditions of the Lewis acid to produce the material of formula (iii). In these formulas, the meaning of a symbol is as showing in description.
