abstract The present invention provides novel tetomilast crystals that are easily mass produced industrially. (1) tetomilast hydrate crystals having a powder X-ray diffraction spectrum substantially the same as the powder X-ray diffraction spectrum shown in FIG. 2; (2) anhydrous tetomilalast type A crystal having a powder X-ray diffraction spectrum substantially the same as the powder X-ray diffraction spectrum shown in FIG. 4; (3) anhydrous tetomilalast C crystal having a powder X-ray diffraction spectrum substantially the same as the powder X-ray diffraction spectrum shown in FIG. 8; (4) a crystal of tetomilalast acetonitrile having a powder X-ray diffraction spectrum substantially the same as the powder X-ray diffraction spectrum shown in FIG. 10; (5) A mixture consisting of the anhydrous tetomyllast type A crystals and the anhydrous tetomilalast type B crystals. These crystals are stable to heat and moisture and are also excellent in terms of the decomposition and dissolution properties of the tablet. Therefore, these crystals are preferably used as pharmaceutical compositions.
