abstract The present invention discloses the use of paper or polymer films comprising slip agents that can be transferred to their surface. Once the paper or polymer film is pressed against the glass sheet, the paper or polymer film may prevent or reduce scratching of the glass surface from other surfaces or particles during shipping or finishing (eg, cutting, conveying to size). The thin surface slip agent can be used to improve the amount of glass shipped between the glass forming plant and the purchaser. The thin discontinuous layer of slip agent remaining on the glass surface can be easily cleaned in a subsequent cleaning process. The paper or film may be imbibed into or coated on the species as a surface member.
