abstract It is an object to provide ceramics having a low coefficient of thermal expansion and superior mechanical strength. The present invention contains magnesium aluminum titanate and alumina, and the elemental composition ratios of Al, Mg and Ti are given in the formula (1) Al 2 (1-x) Mg x Ti (1 + x) O 5 + AAl 2 O 3 ... When represented by (1), x is 0 <x 1, a is 0.4x It is a magnesium aluminum titanate-alumina composite ceramics which satisfy | fills a <2x, respectively.
