The present invention monitors and interprets physiological signals and spontaneous breathing events to detect onset of arousal. Once the onset of arousal is determined, the present invention determines the necessary adjustments in the operation of the treatment device to avoid or minimize arousal. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a control system comprising one or more sensors for detecting physiological parameters of a patient, a controller for monitoring and determining the onset of arousal based on physiological parameters received from the sensors, and controlled by the controller. A therapeutic treatment device. The sensor, as a combination of one or more devices, can monitor the physiological parameters used by the present invention and can determine the onset of awakening or the onset of sleep disorders. The sensors can be integrated into one unit or operate independently of other devices. |
