abstract An embossed sheet material is disclosed. According to the present invention, the embossing pattern comprises one or more line elements having a progressively decreasing depth. Gradually decreasing depths have been found to alter the shadowing characteristics of the embossing pattern, producing lines of the embossing pattern that appear to reduce line weight. The width can also vary with depth, but the reduction in line thickness is achieved without changing the width of the embossing. Embossing patterns can include line thickness changes, greatly improving the aesthetic appeal of the pattern.
