abstract |
The hyaluronic acid products produced are used in numerous surgical applications, such as viscoelastic supplements to treat osteoarthritis. However, traditional sterilization techniques are not suitable due to the destruction of such high molecular weight viscoelastic biopolymers. The present invention describes a method for obtaining a concentrated sterile liquid of a high molecular weight biopolymer such as hyaluronic acid. The method includes filtration sterilization of the dilution preparation of the biopolymer and concentrating the filtration sterilized biopolymer to the desired concentration by ultrafiltration. |
