abstract | The present invention relates to a method for assisting cancer evaluation. The present invention describes the use of human fibroblast activating protein (FAP / seprase) as a universal marker of different cancer types. Sepprases assist in the evaluation of lung or lung cancer (LC) or colon cancer, such as non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) or colorectal cancer (CRC), but also cancers that may be other specific types of cancer. Such specific cancer types are for example esophageal cancer, head and neck cancer, gastric cancer, bile duct cancer, pancreatic cancer, kidney cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer, endometrial cancer or prostate cancer. Moreover, the present invention relates, in particular, to a method of assessing cancer from a liquid sample by measuring seprases in a liquid sample derived from an individual. The measurement of seprase can be used, for example, for early detection of cancer or for surveillance of patients undergoing surgery. |
